Follow this guide when changing position in the 3-6-9 spare system:

 

 

When the remaining pins are left of center:

 

 

 

 

The 2-pin is the key pin so you move 3 boards to the right.

 

 



The 4-pin is the key pin, so you move 6 boards to the right.

 

 



The 7-pin is the key pin, so you move 9 boards to the right.

 

When the remaining pins are right of center:


There is an extra step before adjusting your position if the pins left standing are to the right of the head pin. First find the 10-pin line, which is the line used for a 10-pin conversion. That will be the base line from which to adjust your foot position, and you can use the following chart:

 

If the 10-pin is the key pin, use the 3rd arrow to find the board.

 

 



If the 6-pin is the key pin, you move 3 boards to the right.

 

 



If the 3-pin is the key pin, you move 6 boards to the right.
